SWR loves Waterloo Region!

Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR) is a not-for-profit social enterprise that works with organizations across Waterloo Region to help them reduce their impact on the environment in measurable ways that are good for business. We provide support, resources, recognition and networking events that focus on areas such GHG emissions, waste diversion, water management, employee commuting, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and more. We have found that our work includes not only working with a key champion on projects, but also working to engage the entire team at an organization to help integrate this mission more deeply and work in corporate culture changing.

Our work is always supportive and collaborative. Working with the community, with partners and in collaborative ways is an essential part of our approach and our success. This is evident in the partnership with the Region of Waterloo, the Cities of Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo, and Reep Green Solutions in the management and delivery of our community carbon reduction target through ClimateActionWR. This has also been central to our work as a collaborative partner in the evolv1 project. The Cora Group is developing, building and will manage this first of its kind, net-positive energy, multi-tenant office building in the David Johnston R+T Park, with EY Canada being one of the anchor tenants. We are also working with partners including the University of Waterloo, Laurier, the Accelerator Centre and the City of Waterloo on the development of evolvGREEN, a collaborative workspace focusing on the building a clean economy cluster here in Waterloo Region. In both of these projects, we are proud of the partnerships and supports we have offered to help create the community we together have envisioned.

It is this focus on the community that is the reason that SWR is participating with our partner Kindred Credit Union in the #12days4good program. Both organizations know that supporting people and creating a shared vision are the way forward to a better community. It is through being collaborative, supportive, and engaged together that we will bring the mission of #12days4good to its fullest potential. A sustainable community is one where the environment is clean for the well-being of all people and the whole team at SWR is excited to get out into this community that we love to bring a little caring at this time of year, to the people and the planet!
