Hospice of Waterloo Region is proud to be part of Kindred’s #12days4good campaign. Our vision is to ensure that every person in our community experiences end of life with caring and knowledgeable support. This year, our good deed is telling our clients, their caregivers and families that they matter.  We have made 100 paper flowers along with a message that says, “You matter because…”.

A person at end of life deserves to know that they matter, and just as they were born into a community and have lived in a community, they now have a right to die with peace and dignity in that community. The founder of the hospice movement, Dame Cicely Saunders once said, “You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.”

The #12days4good campaign provided Hospice of Waterloo Region with an opportunity to engage the community. A ladies group from Shri Ram Dham Hindu Temple volunteered their time to help with this project. In preparation for our #do-gooder day, we spent an afternoon preparing the flowers and inspirational messages.

Hospice volunteers will take these flowers when they visit their clients. It is our hope that this little flower will bring joy to our clients and let them know that they matter.
